A community initiative to further Diabetes awareness and research


WHAT

PLAY SPORTS! live healthily (Ramadan Football Tournament) is part of a nation-wide initiative organized by the Imperial College London Diabetes Centre (ICLDC).

It is the fifth pillar supporting the award-winning public health awareness campaign
'Diabetes. Knowledge. Action' under the patronage of HH Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak.

The goal is to promote an active lifestyle by engaging the corporate-community in a football tournament.

WHEN
August 22-26, 2010

WHERE
Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Company (ADNEC) The dedicated halls will be purposely equipped to accommodate the tournament, providing high end facilities for players, spectators and general public. Facilities will include air conditioned lounge area, fun and games area, food court and more.

WHO
PLAY SPORTS! live healthily is a unique opportunity for the UAE's public and private sectors to work together for a healthier life beyond diabetes.

More than 400 'supporters' are expected at each round of the tournament, representing members of participating companies, sponsors and their families.

HOW
The tournament will be held over five days, with matches played each Ramadan night starting at 9:30 pm. Round robin tournament of 16 teams (max 20 players per team, 4 groups of 4 teams, 7 a side games played 15 minutes each way).

Seating and chill out area provided for spectators and participants.
